well, it is ipressive because we all days eat and i think that we never thought about the amount of food and packagig that we spend. Now, after watching the video i can understand tha the people have bad habits and we must change it because it is going to bring serious problems in a near future.
In my case, i can change some habit to help to avoid a little it.I can spend less time in the batroom, to buy less canned soda, etc.

  2. Cindy, it is the little things that can add up and just making some small changes in our habits will make a difference.

  4. Steven Galagarza this videos are really giving me self-concsiousnes about everything that i have wasted. all of that milk is just really impresive how we waste so many things. We need to come up with some new technology so all this waste doesnt fill out all the space.

    1. Steve, it is amazing the amount of waste that is created. I think a lot of people really do not realize it. Hopefully, more companies will work on better ways to package items, so there is less waste.

  5. On the Human footprint video #3 I am surprised at how much bread we eat. I never knew that so much grain could be eaten in one life time. How do we not have cancer? CRAZY. On the 4th video I am disgusted with how much soda cans and aluminum people consume. I don't drink soda or carbonated tea drinks, etc. from cans so I am happy. I just hope that people recycle them instead of just tossing them on the ground or into the trash. I am also sort of freaked out with the rubber ducky scene... the song along with all those ducks made it seem like they would come alive and take over the planet... I love my showers! - Sanchez Charles runsanchrun@gmail.com

  6. Sanchez, we do use a lot of water, especially washing dishes and bathing in comparison to the rest of the world. Things like low flow toilets and eco-shower heads do help to decrease the amount of water waste.

  7. After seeing the first few videos I am very amazed at the footprint I am leaving. The amounts of water that are used really hit me. I like to shower A LOT sometimes 3 or 4 times a day and that's not including the hot baths I like to take to relax after a long day. I'm going to try and change that habit but it's going to be hard. The easier habit I am breaking is how much soda I consume. I started changing this one before I saw the video because I realized how addicted I was to caffeine. Once I saw how many cans are used I was even more disgusted and it's a lot easier to say no to soda now.

    1. Ali, it is shocking how much water we do use. I usually shower at least 3 times a day too and once I saw the video, it really made me think if it was necessary.

It is interesting to see what they estimate the average person uses a year or even daily. It's sad knowing that Americans waste so much and there are people in other countries that don't even have the privilege to consume even half of what we eat on independence day only, in years of their lives. Another thing that was on my mind was that in the videos they kept stating for many of the results that one person alone consumes ridiculous numbers of bread, sodas or fruit or even candies. But we have to face reality that some of us don't even consume these items so are these numbers calculated in effort to scare us? - or - what do they base their results on or whom? I do however know that we all have our personal habits and are consuming or using the resources of that habit abundantly. What is even more frightful is how deep of an imprint one person can cause just by their own personal habit!

    1. Jelisa, the numbers are based on averages, so you are right, there are some people that do not consume this much, but on the other side, there are people that consume even more! Which means there is an excess to go around and most of that ends up as waste.

After watching the videos I was very shock on how much we as american waste. Then watching the part that we consume 47 billions of hamburger and 5442 hot dogs. Im not a hot dog fan myself, but to know that we eat that many is amazing. I can of figure that we use alot of water but never would have thought it was that amount. These very is a true eye opener to american because other country dont have the abilty to use that amount of water. thank God that I was born in american. Watching the videos allows me to have the ability no start recycling and helping out the many that do care. Just a little video like this will allow us to have topics with family to make them start recycling as well.

  10. (John Walker) We as american people need to stop eating so much food. We eat so many foods and for no reason. We just eat to eat and I think if we had less choices than we will be more careful bout eating food. I don't think my habits will change because I have to eat a lot of food because I have a very high.

  11. (jason Troughton) Unfortunately Americans are going to always be over consumers to any product because we as Americans have always been that way and will always be. Can we change, yes but will we, not likely. Mostly the reason is Americans are a me society that has always been blessed. Not saying that we do not give totally but most give or help out if they are getting something in return.
Or to give to help out the conscience.Sorry but thats just the facts of life.

  12. after watching those videos, I was surpised the amount of money the U.S spends in hot dogs and sausages (4 billions dollars) and hamburguers (47 billions dollars) the habits of american people tend to be not so good because here the people eat a lot of fast food, clarifyin that fast food from here is the best fast food of the world but eat it a lot is not healthy so while I am here I need to be carefully with my eating habits because despite I love american food like hamburgers and hot dogs, I need eat healthy, more fruits and vegetables.

  13. The thing that stuck out to me the most is the amount of bread, hot dogs, and hamburgers we consume as a country. These foods aren't just a stereotype of America, they are truly our staples when it comes to food! And the amount of bread per person is absolutely astonishing! We use bread to go along with anything!

  14. Whether we consider ourselves as meat lovers or strict vegetarians, we all contribute to what the documentary refers to as ‘The Human Footprint.’ After viewing all four parts of the documentary, and even if not all the figures referenced are 100% accurate, we still have a great dilemma looming over our heads. It would behoove us develop habits to help reduce waste and assist in being better Stewarts of the earth that God created for us to inhabit.
I wondered where all our trash would go if we run out of land fill for garbage disposal. Will there be enough food to feed us all in the years to come, or maybe we just need to start exploring outer space for compatible plants where some of us can relocate and establish a new civilization. What do you think?

  15. Hi im Ouida,
If I was told by word of mouth about these numbers in footprint I would say “I don’t think so”. Seeing makes it a little more different. Although the numbers may not be accurate it is very interesting to know we use so much water, hygienic products and eat that much a day and in our lifetime. For instance showers, we take 28,443 in a lifetime, about 700 thousand gallons of water which is approximately about 4 pools. Just think about the water bill “WOW”!! That is just an average person, what about the compulsive person that takes more than the average showers we are looking at a larger number “imagine that”. If we look at hygiene I think we use a lot more than the numbers we see because there are people who use these products even more.
